Chainlink Integrates Data Streams and VRF on Base Blockchain
Chainlink has expanded its offerings on the Base blockchain by launching its Data Streams and Verifiable Random Function (VRF) services. This development ensures that the full suite of Chainlink products is now accessible to developers using Base, a layer-two (L2) blockchain built on Ethereum.
Chainlink Expands Services on Base Blockchain
The recent integration of Chainlink’s Data Streams and VRF on Base highlights the growing collaboration between the decentralized computing platform and the L2 blockchain. Chainlink Data Streams provides low-latency market data and automated execution capabilities, enabling high-throughput decentralized finance (defi) applications to operate with efficiency similar to centralized exchanges.
Chainlink stated on Thursday that VRF has already been widely adopted across Web3, and further said it offers secure random number generation for smart contracts, with recent updates improving gas consumption and user experience. “Base’s builder-friendly environment is a natural fit for Chainlink products, and we’re excited to see all of the Chainlink platform now available on Base,” Thodoris Karakostas, the head of blockchain partnerships at Chainlink Labs remarked on Thursday.
Base, developed by Coinbase, serves as an Ethereum L2 solution, offering developers the tools to build and scale decentralized applications with enhanced security and interoperability. Over the last year, Base has seen significant activity in the L2 space. The addition of Chainlink‘s infrastructure, including Data Streams and VRF, is expected to bolster the functionality and reliability of decentralized applications on Base, supporting a new generation of onchain products.
